The oldest continuous landed tradition

Among surviving families, the strongest documented examples of hereditary landed nobility are:

  1. House of Arbab
  2. House of Ameri
  3. House of Ghaffari
  4. House of Alam
  5. House of Khazimeh
  6. House of Qara’i

These are the families most consistently associated with hereditary estates across multiple generations, although the extent and origins of their landholdings differ from family to family. For some of the Yazd families listed above, the evidence for continuous hereditary noble status is less extensive than for Arbab or Alam, so they should be treated with more caution.

Families with a continuous heritage and recognized status across generations

Only families that demonstrate hereditary continuity across multiple generations, possess recognized royal, princely, aristocratic, or landed noble status, and maintain documented living family branches to the present day are eligible for inclusion.
